Memphis Bioworks™ Foundation Named

Best Small Company to Work For in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tennessee, October 20, 2006 - The Memphis Bioworks Foundation has been named the best small company to work for in Memphis.  In the annual competition sponsored by the Memphis Business Journal, the Foundation was honored as the best company to work for in Memphis in the 50 employees or under category.

“We have the best team, best staff I have ever had the privilege of working with,” said Dr. Steven J. Bares, Executive Director and President of the Memphis Bioworks Foundation.  “It is an honor to win this award and for us to be recognized as having the kind of environment that encourages people to get up and drive to work every day with a smile on their face.”

“Knowing you are doing something important that will have a lasting impact on your community, and knowing those around you care about and respect each other play a large role in our organization’s ability to accomplish our mission,” he added.

The Memphis Business Journal partnered with a national research firm, Quantum Market Research to determine Memphis’ Best Places to Work.

The Memphis Bioworks Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, was formed in early 2001 to establish the Memphis region as an internationally recognized center for biomedical technology through education, research, job training, and commercialization. Baptist Memorial Health Care donated its property in the Medical Center to the Foundation for the site of the UT-Baptist Research Park, which serves as the focal point of the city’s biomedical economic development.
